Russian groups fight over double-parked car

MOSCOW, May 3 (UPI) -- Members of a pro-Kremlin youth group and supporters of a Chechen government official came to blows in Moscow over a double-parked car.

Participants in the StopHam movement, an offshoot of the Nashi youth movement aimed at stopping drivers from parking in places that block other motorists, approached Madina Mingayeva, wife of deputy presidential plenipotentiary to Chechnya Tamerlan Mingayev, outside the Yevropeisky shopping mall in Moscow and asked her to move her vehicle because it was double parked, The Moscow Times reported Thursday.

The woman said in video taken by the StopHam members that she would not move her car "on principle," and she became angry when they threatened to put a sticker on her windshield reading, "I don't care about anyone. I park where I want."

A group of men, including Mingayeva's son, Islam, soon arrived in a car and came to blows with the StopHam members.

Both parties said no further action will be taken.

"Our main goal was to show to the violator, shame her a little bit, and we'll stop there. We're not going to make a mountain out of a molehill," StopHam leader Ilya Fadeyev said.

Bekkhan Taimaskhanov, presidential plenipotentiary to Chechnya, said the "issue was settled."
