LITCHFIELD, Conn., April 12 (UPI) -- Connecticut authorities said they have been unable to locate a mysterious object seen falling from the sky by witnesses including a state trooper.

The Connecticut State Police said the glowing green object, which some witnesses described as being the size of a whale, was seen falling from the sky in the Litchfield area around 2 a.m. Thursday morning, and is believed to have plunged into Bantam Lake, WFSB-TV, Hartford, Conn., reported.

Police said emergency responders attempted to locate the object, but the search was called off after a few hours.
