LAS VEGAS, April 3 (UPI) -- A spokeswoman for the Luxor Las Vegas said officials do not know the origin of a group of orbs filmed floating over the hotel and casino.

Yvette Monet, a spokeswoman for MGM resorts, which owns the Luxor, said the orbs, which were filmed floating about the establishment March 21, do not appear to be planes illuminated by the light beamed from the roof of the Luxor, the Las Vegas Sun reported Tuesday.

"I don't have an explanation," Monet said.

Drew Allan of Ohio, who filmed the orbs and posted the video to YouTube, said he also does not know what the orbs were.

"People really deserve to know what happened that night," he wrote in an e-mail to the Sun. "All I can do is share my story and let them make up their minds on their own."

A Nellis Air Force Base spokeswoman said she had not heard anything about the orbs.

Some YouTube commenters speculated the orbs may have been light reflected from birds feasting on the insects attracted by the Luxor's rooftop light.
