LAS VEGAS, April 2 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania couple whose spouses both died recently were allowed to marry live on stage at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.

Christina Davidson, 31, and Frank Tucci, 34, who were both recently widowed, said they had wanted a big wedding for their second go-around and their story caught the attention of an executive with David's Bridal, who proposed the live wedding to officials organizing the 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Monday.

The Gloucester County couple, who met in 2009 at a support group Davidson started for the bereaved, were serenaded on stage by country stars Martina McBride and Pat Monahan before tying the knot in front of millions of viewers.

"Both of us are closing a chapter in our lives and starting a new one," Davidson said. "God willing, we're going to have a happy life together. This isn't the way we thought life was going to be."
