NEW YORK, March 24 (UPI) -- A man who tried to climb The New York Times building in Manhattan early Saturday was arrested at the fifth floor and taken to a hospital, police said.

Police got the call at about 7 a.m., the New York Post reported. The man, whose identity was not released, was apprehended within 5 minutes and sent to Bellevue Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

The climber reportedly told police he was looking for a copy of the newspaper.

The 52-story building, completed in 2007, attracted three climbers in 2008. Two men independently reached the roof June 5, while the third got as far as the 11th floor.

All three were trying to make political points. The first man hung a sign on the facade protesting global warming, the second wore a T-shirt with the message "Malaria no more," and the third hung a banner from the Times sign that showed Osama bin Laden holding a puppet President George W. Bush.
