LONDON, March 16 (UPI) -- The Food Network U.K. said its poll of British men found more than half of respondents preferred their mother's cooking to their wife's.

The network said its survey of 2,000 adult men found about one in four respondents often sneak to their mother's house for a meal without informing their significant others, and a little more than one in 10 caused "upset" to their relationships when they told their wife or girlfriend they could use cooking tips from their mom, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

''It's quite endearing men prefer their mother's cooking," Food Network U.K. spokesman Nick Thorogood said.

''As adults, men still seek the comfort and tradition of the cooking they have grown up with so turn to their mums for what they perceive as a 'proper meal.' A lot of the best recipes Brits have are likely to have been handed down to them from their mums, and Mother's Day is the perfect time for people to put those cooking tips to good use and surprise their mum with a home-cooked meal."
