NORTHFIELD, Ill., March 6 (UPI) -- An Illinois manufacturer of Oreos said the company is marking the 100th anniversary of the cookie's creation with a limited-edition Birthday Cake Oreo.

Kraft Foods, the Northfield, Ill., parent company to Oreo creator Nabisco, said the Birthday Cake Oreo will be a part of the company's 100th anniversary marketing campaign for the cookies and will join the company's lineup of 47 other Oreo products, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday.

Kraft said the first Oreos were sold in Hoboken, N.J., March 6, 1912, after being created at the National Biscuit Co.'s Chelsea Market bakeries in New York.
