KOSTANAY, Kazakhstan, March 5 (UPI) -- Officials in Kazakhstan were shocked when Ricky Martin's pop hit "Livin 'la Vida Loca" played instead of the national anthem at a ski festival.

Nuraly Saduakasov, the head of the regional administration, was present at the Healthy Ski Tracks 2012 opening ceremony in Kostanay when a voice over announced the start of the national anthem, RIA Novosti reported Monday.

Tengri News reported Saduakasov and other officials stood motionless when Martin's 1999 hit played for several seconds until being replaced by the Kazakh national anthem.
