Women find snake in trunk of rental car

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., March 1 (UPI) -- A pair of Florida women said they were shocked to find a snake, which they believe to be a boa constrictor, in the trunk of their rental car.

Kathy Murphy said she and a friend were unloading groceries from the trunk of the rental car at Shorewood Condominiums in Cape Canaveral when they discovered the snake slithering across their grocery bags, WFTV, Orlando, reported Thursday.

"I opened the trunk and it was like, with its tongue coming at me. So I just jumped back," Murphy said.

The women said they believe the snake, which was taken away by Brevard County Animal Control, was a boa constrictor.

Murphy said the car was a rental so they don't know how long the serpent had been in the trunk.
