SPRING HILL, Kan., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- A man who lost his wallet while installing pipes in the attic of a Kansas home more than 35 years ago said he was shocked when it reappeared.

Gean Brown Jr. said he lost his wallet while working in the attic of the Spring Hill home in 1976 or 1977 and never expected to see the item again until last week, when the current resident of the home contacted him, KCTV, Kansas City, Mo., reported Monday.

Shawn Wyckoff told Brown he found the wallet in his attic while working on his antenna and an Internet search helped him track Brown to his address in Paola, Kan.

"This guy 36 years later he goes up there and looks down -- there it is. Bang. Out in the open. And he was decent enough to look me up and find it. He could have pitched it. I don't know this guy. (But he) gives it back," Brown said.

He said the wallet did not contain any cash, but it did have included his original draft card, old photos from his service in the Navy and a picture of his then-girlfriend, who is now his wife.

Brown said he is hoping Wyckoff and his wife will accept a dinner invitation as a way of showing his gratitude.
