NAPLES, Fla., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- A mother of three told a would-be burglar outside her parent's Florida home to "run fast" before chasing him down on foot to be arrested by police.

Betsy Stibler, 41, was checking on her children when she spotted the burglar going through her father's car around 2 a.m. Thursday, Naples (Fla.) Daily News reported.

Stibler said she called 911, then confronted the suspect.

"I said, 'You may as well stop. The police are coming. And if you are going to run, you better run fast and more than three miles because I'm a runner,'" Stibler said.

The suspect, identified as Roy Wayne Hansen, 21, took off, the newspaper said.

Stibler, who has run six 5K races in the past year, caught up to Hansen and cornered him between two homes and waited for Collier County sheriff's deputies to arrive, the report said.

Hansen was arrested and is facing a felony charge of burglary.

Stibler's father, Gary Hardin, said he wasn't surprised his daughter chased down a burglar.

"I was scared for her," said Hardin, 63. "I was worried she might catch the dude and he might be violent. I also worried she might catch the guy and beat the crap out of him."
