Kiwi women choose wrinkles over surgery

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A poll of women in New Zealand found that nine out of 10 women would not get cosmetic surgery to combat the signs of old age.

The online study of 1,000 women found only one in five said they felt "sad" about wrinkles and only a third would consider cosmetic surgery, New Zealand Herald reported Monday.

The study, commissioned by skin cream manufacturer Olay and produced by Perceptive Research, found that 25 percent of women said they would be offended if someone asked if they had cosmetic surgery.

Yet, while most New Zealand women said they would prefer to age naturally, the survey found that 38 percent said they would consider cosmetic surgery if money was not an issue.

"The survey highlights how appearance can affect a significant proportion of people, which is often unsaid. A majority of women want to age naturally and having effective face creams is an acceptable method," said Auckland appearance medicine expert Dr. Garsing Wong. "Aging gracefully does not mean neglecting yourself."

Other details of the survey were not available.

Mass. toy store gets liquor license

DANVERS, Mass., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A Danvers, Mass., toy store was mistakenly issued a liquor license, meant for the previous occupant of the location, officials said.

"It was very shocking to us," said Jennifer LaMontagne, co-owner of the toy store Green Elephant.

Last week the governor of Massachusetts approved a request liquor license at 13 Elm Street, where the toy store is located in Danvers, WHDH-TV, Boston, reported Thursday.

LaMontagne said she had no idea anyone had ever applied for a liquor license for the location of the shop.

"We heard about it yesterday, that was the first time we had heard about it," said LaMontagne.

However, it turned out the liquor license was actually for Natalie's Restaurant, which never opened in the space.

"Since that time something has happened and he doesn't exist at 13 Elm Street or never did exist at 13 Elm Street," said Rep. Ted Speliotis of Danvers.

Speliotis said even though the liquor license is for the location, it is only good for the restaurant whose name was on the application.

"The town could not transfer that license to anyone else," said Speliotis.

Woman attacks man on eBay

LONDON, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A British mother launched an attack on her ex-husband on an eBay listing for his model train set.

The woman, known only as Angie, told potential buyers about how she and her sons had been burned by her ex in the description of the train set, The Sun reported.

"He has left me and the boys in modest rented accommodation and taken/sold everything," she said.

But she said she is "infinitely richer" now, adding, "Matrimonial prostitution is an expensive activity, for the woman if not the man."

In describing the actual train, Angie said it had been barely used because of her ex's "pathological need for order and tidiness."

The listing has gotten her sympathy and even marriage offers. "Sorry guys, once bitten twice shy," she replied.

Police arrest naked man in Walmart

EXTON, Pa., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A man was arrested after allegedly walking around an Exton, Pa., Walmart store naked, then stealing a pair of socks, police said.

Police were called to the Walmart Wednesday when employees reported there was a naked man walking around the store, WCAU-TV, Philadelphia, reported.

When they arrived, they found Verdon Lamont Taylor in the store wearing only socks that were allegedly stolen from the store, police said.

Police said Taylor would not comply with officers and they had to use a stun gun on him before taking him into custody.

Taylor was charged with indecent exposure, aggravated assault, simple assault, retail theft, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct.
