BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Feb. 20 (UPI) -- A Florida petting farm owner has offered to take on the unwanted peafowl from a Boynton Beach neighborhood.

Residents of the Manor Forest area said there are about 400 peafowl in their area and the large flock has been responsible for leaving droppings in unwanted places, clawing screens and disturbing neighbors with their loud calls, the Palm Beach Post reported Monday.

Nancy Fried, who owns a 20-acre farm west of Royal Palm Beach, said she was upset to hear the homeowners association was considering hiring a trapper to use "lethal force" on about half of the flock.

"Here's the deal," Fried said. "They bring them to me in an enclosure. I'll feed them in the enclosures in the shade for a week until they get used to the place. I'm creating a list of people who want them."

The homeowners association is considering the offer.
