DANVERS, Mass., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A Danvers, Mass., toy store was mistakenly issued a liquor license, meant for the previous occupant of the location, officials said.

"It was very shocking to us," said Jennifer LaMontagne, co-owner of the toy store Green Elephant.

Last week the governor of Massachusetts approved a request liquor license at 13 Elm Street, where the toy store is located in Danvers, WHDH-TV, Boston, reported Thursday.

LaMontagne said she had no idea anyone had ever applied for a liquor license for the location of the shop.

"We heard about it yesterday, that was the first time we had heard about it," said LaMontagne.

However, it turned out the liquor license was actually for Natalie's Restaurant, which never opened in the space.

"Since that time something has happened and he doesn't exist at 13 Elm Street or never did exist at 13 Elm Street," said Rep. Ted Speliotis of Danvers.

Speliotis said even though the liquor license is for the location, it is only good for the restaurant whose name was on the application.

"The town could not transfer that license to anyone else," said Speliotis.
