NEW YORK, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A New York City Department of Sanitation worker who found an iPad in the bathroom of a cafe hid it in his pants and stole it, police said.
Michael Maldonado, 38, had been on duty in the East Village Friday morning when he knocked on the door of Cafe Cortadito on East 3rd Street and asked to use the bathroom, a police source told the New York Daily News.
When the cafe owner realized the iPad was missing, she confronted Maldonado about it, police said.
The owner called the police, who caught Maldonado on a street nearby and he was charged with petit larceny, police said.
