MOSCOW, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin suggested Thursday reducing the number of days Russians have off for New Year's and Christmas and shift them to May.
Putin proposed cutting off the New Year's holidays, normally celebrated Jan. 1-10, at Jan. 7, when Russians celebrate Christmas, RIA Novosti reported.
Putin said long New Year's holidays are tough on people's health, ITAR-Tass reported.
"Our holidays are long and all these prolonged Christmas holidays can be limited and end let's say on Jan. 7 -- Christmas. And all the leftover days could be stored and used in let's say May, it is what is wanted by people," he said.
