TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Doctors in Florida and New York state both reported sets of twins were born on opposite sides of the New Year.

Doctors at Tampa General Hospital in Florida said Jenna Bear, born to mother Jocelyn at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, was the hospital's last baby of 2011, and her sister, Leah Bear, was delivered a minute later to become the region's first baby of 2012, the Tampa Bay (Fla.) Times reported Monday.

"It's a great way to end the previous year and start the new year," dad Blake Bear, 34, said of the births.

Meanwhile, doctors at Women & Children's Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., said Ronan Rosputni may have been Erie County's final baby of the year when he was born at 11:37 p.m. Saturday and his brother, Rory, is believed to be the county's first baby of the year, being born at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, The Buffalo News reported.

"This is like a dream," mother Brighid Rosputni said.
