Stuck falcon freed from tree

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Authorities in New Jersey said an animal control officer freed a falcon that became tangled in rope in a tree.

Capt. Joseph Rampolla of the Park Ridge Police Department said the bird of prey was reported stuck upside down in a tree outside Park Ridge High School just after 2 p.m. Tuesday but uninjured, The Record, Woodland Park, N.J., reported Wednesday.

Rampolla said firefighters extended a truck ladder toward the tree and the animal control officer used a chainsaw to cut through branches and reach the falcon.

The bird was taken to Tyco Animal Control for a health evaluation, Rampolla said.
