FERGUS FALLS, Minn., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- A goat slated to stand watch at a Christmas Eve nativity scene in Fergus Fall, Minn., broke free and headed for greener holiday pastures, officials said.

The three-year-old black and curly Angora goat was being led Saturday afternoon into Bethlehem Lutheran Church when it slipped its leash and took off, the Fergus Falls Journal reported Monday.

The goat's owner, Jim Aakre of rural Underwood, Minn., said he chased the goat for two hours but had trouble tracking it because of the lack of snow. The goat was spotted at several locations in the area, including by the Otter Tail River, but law enforcement officers have been unable catch it.

Aakre had also brought a llama and two puppies to the nativity service, the newspaper said.
