Mistletoe supplies short in Canada

OTTAWA, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- The owner of a flower shop in Ottawa says there is a shortage of the traditional decorative plant mistletoe this holiday season in Canada.

Minoo Banaei, owner of the Bel Fiore shop, said she had difficulty locating the plant from suppliers, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Friday.

"I called three suppliers and two of them just laughed at me," she said. "The third said it would be expensive, but he tried. He ended up importing it from Europe."

Banaei said the mistletoe plants she managed to obtain have been selling for $25 each.
