Russell LeFevre of Canoncito said his wife Elizabeth started having contractions early Tuesday so they gathered their 3-year-old daughter Renee and loaded into a truck driven by his brother, Neil, and headed toward Santa Fe, The (Santa Fe) New Mexican reported Wednesday.

"It was blizzarding outside," Russell LeFevre said. "They had shut down [Interstate 25] between Eldorado and Las Vegas."

"We got like 2 miles down the highway, and I told him there was probably no chance we were going to make it to the hospital," Elizabeth LeFevre said. "As soon as I said that my water broke."

Russell, who graduated from nursing school Nov. 8, said the baby's arrival quickened and he delivered Joanna Mallory LeFevre in the front seat of the vehicle.

The family found a state police officer parked on I-25 and the officer gave them blankets and called an ambulance, who took them the rest of the way to the hospital.

Russell said mother and child were doing well.

Contest winner crashes Lamborghini

SANTAQUIN, Utah, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- A Utah man who won a $380,000 Lamborghini Murcielago in a contest said he crashed the car about 6 hours after taking the keys.

David Dopp of Santaquin, who was announced as the winner of the Maverick gas station's "Joe Schmo to Lambo" contest during halftime of the Brigham Young University football game Nov. 12, said he received the car at a Saturday ceremony and only had the Lamborghini for about 6 hours before getting into an accident, KSL-TV, Salt Lake City, reported Wednesday.

"We were coming up a hill, going around a corner; and as soon as we came up the hill, we either hit some black ice or loose gravel or something, and all of a sudden we just started spinning," Dopp said. "We ended up in a field, and I back-ended a couple of fence posts."

There were no injuries, but the car sustained damage to its front end, a puncture in the wheel and scratches along the passenger side. Dopp said he had to have the vehicle towed from the scene.

Dopp said the car is being fixed at a Las Vegas body shop.

Reindeer caught in middle of Ohio road

NORTON, Ohio, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Police in Ohio said an officer captured a reindeer that fell from a livestock truck and took a stroll down the middle of a state road.

Norton police said Officer Kevin Starling was driving down State Route 21 Sunday and encountered really slow traffic, WJW-TV, Cleveland, reported Wednesday.

"Every lane was just at a crawl. So, sure enough I got along on the left side and weaved my way through traffic. And sure enough, there was a reindeer walking down walking dead center in the middle of the roadway," Starling said.

Sterling said he hopped out of his car and captured the animal.

"There was nothing fancy about it. I just ran around, and grabbed onto the bridle. And that was the capture," he said.

Police determined the reindeer, which suffered road rash and a broken antler, had fallen from a livestock truck traveling from a farm in Massilon to a party in Beachwood. The animal was returned to its owner.
