HAVERHILL, Mass., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts woman who left her engagement ring on a commuter train said she was able to find the item with the help of some dedicated conductors.

Katelyn Peckham said she got off the train Tuesday morning at the North Station in Haverhill and realized about a half hour later that she did not have the engagement ring, which bears a large diamond that had once belonged to her mother, The Boston Globe reported Wednesday.

"I was just thinking how disappointed everyone would be in me," Peckham said. "You just don't lose things like this."

Peckham said she hurried back to the station and enlisted the help of some conductors to help her search the trains at the station.

Peckham said she burst into tears when a conductor handed the ring back to her.

"I felt sick to my stomach when it was over," Peckham said. "It could have been the worst day of my life."
