Santa's southern cousin visits Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Pancho Clos, Santa Claus' Mexican-themed cousin from the South Pole, handed out gifts to children at a Texas shopping center.

Pancho made his 40th annual visit Sunday to Lubbock and arrived at the Maggie Trejo Super Center with an escort made up of Hispanic Police Officers Association members, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported Monday.

Lubbock police Detective Manuel Reyna, president of the Hispanic Police Officers Association, said more than 1,000 toys and more than 2,000 bags of candy and snacks were donated for the event.

"Nobody leaves without something," he said.
