Deputies said Vidale sang a song with profane lyrics while riding the bus, which had children on board, Nov. 18 and directed profanities at the driver when he was asked to stop using the foul language.

Firefighters make some bizarre rescues

LONDON, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- London firefighters said they have responded to emergency calls for a man stuck in a child's toy car and a woman with her hand stuck in a vending machine.

The London Fire Brigade said in addition to those to calls, its most unusual calls also included a man with his head caught in a cat door, a man whose genitals were stuck in a chastity belt and children stuck on playground equipment, The Sun reported Friday.

"You would not believe some of the incidents we are called to deal with -- people manage to get themselves trapped in some very weird and wonderful places," said Dave Brown, the fire service's assistant commissioner for operations and mobilizing.

"But there is a serious side to this -- these incidents are time --consuming, costly and take up the precious time of our crews who are then unavailable to attend other, potentially life-threatening, emergencies," Brown said.

"We ask the public to take greater care to avoid getting themselves into these often ridiculous situations and to think carefully before dialing 999 and calling us out if there is not an emergency."

BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- A Zimbabwean man who called for a prostitute to come to his hotel room said he collapsed to the floor when his daughter showed up.

Father-of-three Titus Ncube of Bulawayo said he called for a prostitute to come to the hotel room in which he was staying while having marital problems and was shocked when his 20-year-old daughter arrived, the British tabloid the Mirror reported Friday.

Ncube said he collapsed to floor upon recognizing his daughter, who quickly fled, crying.

"I am sorry for what I did," Ncube said. "I spoke to my wife and daughter. I apologized for my actions as I just wanted my family back. My daughter has stopped doing what she was doing and is going back to school next year. My marital problems are not over, but we have a counselor who is helping us to get over this most difficult period."

Ncube's wife, Rosemary, agreed their marriage was troubled.

"If it were not for my children, I could have divorced him a long time ago. But because of the trauma that divorce has on children, I decided to stay," she said.

LOCKPORT, Ill., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- An inmate who escaped during a prison van ride was at large for 6 hours before police dogs caught his scent in a portable toilet, Illinois State Police said.

Cesar Sanchez, 37, who is serving a seven-year sentence for burglary, got out of a moving transport van near Lockport, Ill., Friday and was believed to have hitched a ride on the back of a delivery truck, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Will County Sheriff Paul Kaupas said the delivery truck investigators think Sanchez used in his getaway was traced to a business where video surveillance records showed Sanchez dismounting the truck, the newspaper said.

After police dogs picked up his scent in a storage lot for portable toilets, police using infrared technology in a helicopter established he was hiding in one of the toilets, police said.

Sanchez, who was handcuffed during the prison van ride, may have kicked the van door open, authorities said.
