NEW YORK, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- A New York man searching the city for his missing parrot said the bird " has a huge vocabulary and loves to sing opera songs."

Allen Kirson said Captain, his green and yellow Amazon parrot, apparently flew off his shoulder while he was riding his bike in the Brooklyn borough's Kensington neighborhood Friday, the New York Post reported Monday.

Kirson said the parrot has become a local celebrity, performing at homes for seniors and children's hospitals.

"He talks, sings and dances. He has a huge vocabulary and loves to sing opera songs," Kirson said.
