CEDAR FALLS, Iowa, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Police in Iowa said a man dubbed "the Hamburglar" after breaking into a McDonald's and cooking himself a meal turned himself in to officers.

Investigators said Whitley Allen Teslow, 21, of Waverly, turned himself in at the Cedar Falls Police Department headquarters Tuesday after seeing video surveillance footage of the early Sunday incident on TV, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported Wednesday.

Police had compared the man to "the Hamburglar" character from McDonald's footage after workers arrived at the store at 4:20 a.m. Sunday to find a window had been broken and the culprit had apparently cooked himself some food.

Teslow was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree theft.
