SPRING, Texas, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Police in Texas said a man accused of stealing more than two dozen tailgates from pickup trucks was arrested after posting the items for sale on Craigslist.

Harris County Precinct 4 police said Noel Cabello, 35, of Spring was arrested Monday after two of his victims found their tailgates for sale on Craigslist, the Houston Chronicle reported Thursday.

Investigators said the victims met with Cabello, bought their tailgates back and called police after using the vehicle identification numbers on the gates to verify they were the ones stolen from their trucks.

Police said they have identified the owners of 19 of the tailgates, which were stolen from Oct. 8 to Oct. 12.

"The replacement value on some of the ones with steps are $4,000 and he was selling those for a $1,000," Deputy John Hecker said.

Cabello was arrested on theft charges, police said.
