TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a car passenger was charged with prank-calling 911 67 times and the driver was arrested for cocaine possession.
Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said Clarence McDonald, 37, called repeatedly during a 2-hour period while riding in a car driven by Bonnie Martinez, 36, WTSP-TV, Tampa, Fla., reported Friday.
Investigators said McDonald told 911 operators he was being chased and shot at, but he was unclear about his location and refused to have Martinez stop the vehicle.
Deputies said McDonald eventually gave them a description of the vehicle and it was pulled over shortly after midnight.
McDonald was arrested on a charge of misuse of 911 and jailed in lieu of $2,000 bond.
Martinez was arrested on a cocaine possession charge and released after posting $2,000 bond.
