VARA, Sweden, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Two men who were arrested after Swedish police conducted DNA tests on feces left at a robbery scene have been sentenced to prison.
One of the men was sentenced to four years in prison and the other was sentenced to four years and four months Monday after they were convicted of the March aggravated robbery at the Vara home of strawberry farmer Elof Dahlen, 64, The Local reported Monday.
Police said the men took $932 in cash, a camera, a GPS device and tools from Dahlen's home before taking his car to where an accomplice was waiting with a getaway truck. The men were arrested after DNA testing on three piles of feces found near the farmer's car, which had been set on fire, led investigators to the suspects.
The men were also ordered to pay $4,652 compensation to Dahlen.
