FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Michigan State Police said the right lane of eastbound Interstate 696 in Farmington Hills was blocked when a truck dumped pumpkins onto the roadway.

Police said the pumpkin-hauling truck lost part of its load Wednesday morning near Orchard Lake Road, The Detroit News reported Wednesday.

Sgt. James Kemp told the Detroit Free Press a motorist dialed 911 around 6 a.m. when a pumpkin fell from the truck and bounced off his car.

"They were bouncing off people's cars," Kemp said. "At least one windshield was shattered, but at least he didn't get hurt."

Kemp said the truck driver was stopped and could face a citation for having an unstable load, which carries a fine of $100 to $150.
