FAIRFAX, Va., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- A Virginia dog walker headed to trial on charges of failing to scoop canine poop said she has already spent $1,200 on her defense.

Kimberly Zakrzewski, 46, who often walks Baxter, a 19-pound Westie-bichon frise mix belonging to a friend, said accusations of her failing to scoop poop from alongside a Fairfax street in April came from a neighbor who aims to file "nuisance charges to upset and to hurt me," The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The neighbor, Virginia Cornell, claims she saw Zakrzewski fail to scoop the droppings on the grounds of the Penderbrook complex on Greenwood Court. She previously filed a criminal complaint accusing Zakrzewski of driving recklessly on the grounds of the complex in 2008 and the woman was cleared by a jury.

"She was letting the dog poop on purpose because she knew it annoyed us," Cornell said, referring to herself and her sister. "This individual has no respect or regard for anyone else and views herself as above the law."

Zakrzewski said the owner of the dog will testify the droppings in the picture supplied by Cornell are the wrong size and consistency to have come from Baxter, and her own husband, who accompanied her on the April walk, will testify she left no feces behind.
