VALLEJO, Calif., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Emergency responders in California said a man spent about nine hours trapped in a child's swing at a public park after accepting a bet from friends.

Vallejo police said they responded Saturday morning to a report of a man screaming at Blue Rock Springs Park around 6 a.m. and they found a 21-year-old man with his legs stuck in the leg holes of a swing designed for a small child, the Vallejo Times-Herald reported Tuesday.

The man told police he had used laundry detergent to lube up his legs and squeeze into the swing at 9 p.m. the previous night after accepting a $100 bet from friends.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and cut the chains of the swing, allowing the man to be taken to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center, where he was freed from the leg holsters with a cast cutter.

The man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
