LONDON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- A survey suggests 60 percent of Britons would search Google to answer a question before asking a family member.

The survey of 1,000 people, conducted online by Redshift Research for digital marketing agency Digital Clarity, found 60 percent of respondents said they would rather use Google than ask a family member to answer a question.

The pollsters said the results were consistent among all age groups, ages 18-55.

"We rely on it so often for information that Google has become the brainiest member of the family," said Reggie James, managing director of Digital Clarity. "Just count how many times you hear 'Google it' the next time you're having a family discussion and can't remember a fact.

"The biggest search users in the U.K. are the younger middle aged -- the generation of people who were in their 20s when the Web took off in the mid 1990s and have grown up with Google," James said.
