PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a suspected burglar whose shorts fell down while fleeing from a witness was identified by his underwear.

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said witness Donna Decker, 65, confronted Antonio Kleiss, 14, who appeared to be breaking into an unlocked 1991 Dodge pickup in a Port Charlotte parking lot, and the suspect ran when Decker told him she was calling police, The Smoking Gun reported Wednesday.

Decker told deputies the teenager's shorts fell as he ran, revealing his red boxer shorts.

Deputies said they located Kleiss in his grandmother's apartment a short time later and he was wearing the black hoodie and tan shorts Decker described to investigators.

The sheriff's office report said deputies "asked him to pull down his tan shorts a little and he revealed that he was wearing red boxer shorts underneath."

Kleiss was charged with felony burglary and attempted grand theft. He was released into the custody of a parent.
