NEW YORK, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- A New York woman said she was shocked to find a derogatory name written on the side of the cup she received from her usual Starbucks.

Vicki Reveron said she often visits the Starbucks on 8th Avenue at 35th Street because it is near her workplace and she was shocked when an employee labeled her cup with a "b-word" meaning a female dog, WABC-TV, New York, reported Wednesday.

"I feel degraded actually. It's a degrading word here," Reveron said.

Reveron said there had been a mixup with her order of a caramel frappuccino just prior to the incident.

"We made light of the mistake the order taker had made so I mean no harm no foul, but unfortunately he took it another way," Reveron said.

Reveron said a manager gave her free vouchers in compensation on the condition she not "associate the cup with the location."

However, Reverson said she has instead decided to switch to a different coffee shop.

A manager at the location described the incident as a "mistake" and a company spokesman said officials "have apologized numerous times for this unfortunate misunderstanding."

Large monkey spotted wandering in Florida

ST. CLOUD, Fla., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a large monkey, estimated to be 4 feet tall when on all fours, has been spotted at least four times in the St. Cloud region.

Osceola County Animal Control and the St. Cloud Police Department said the primate has been spotted in the area on at least four occasions, once behind a Home Depot store in Dakota Avenue and three times in the Wisconsin Avenue area, WKMG-TV, Orlando, reported Wednesday.

Authorities said they do not know where the animal came from and they are encouraging anyone who spots the monkey to call police or Animal Control.

Les Platt, who lives in the Wisconsin Avenue area, said the monkey was spotted by some houseguests.

"He just walked across, and then he stood upright on his two hind legs. Up to that point, they thought they were looking at a wildcat," Plett said. "I lived in the Philippines, I had a number of pet monkeys -- and they can be very mean and can bite -- so maybe someone just got tired of taking care of the monkey."

Georgia Tech seeks to stop 'T' thefts

ATLANTA, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- The Georgia Institute of Technology said it has spent more than $100,000 replacing the letter "T" on various signs after repeated thefts.

Undergraduate President Elle Creel said stealing the "T" from Tech Tower is a tradition stretching back to the 1960s, but it has recently spread to taking the "T" from signs all over campus, including stadium signs and library book return boxes, WAGA-TV, Atlanta, reported Wednesday.

The student government is encouraging thieves to return the pilfered letters with its "Keep the T in Tech" campaign, which is allowing those who take the letters to return them Wednesday with no questions asked.

"They can come by our student government office all day. We are also going to have the Rambling Wreck our mascot. You can come by Skiles Walkway and drop off the T in the wreck. There will be no questions asked. We don't care why you stole the T or when. We just want to know where you got it so we can restore it to its rightful place," Creel said.

Detroit investigates Booty Lounge bus

DETROIT, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Detroit Police said Chief Ralph Godbee believes a mobile strip club dubbed the Booty Lounge is illegal and officers are investigating.

Police spokeswoman Eren Stephens said the bus, which is often seen operating downtown during Detroit Lions games, is being investigated on allegations of being an illegal strip club, charging $10 "donations" for entry, the Detroit Free Press reported Wednesday.

"We're looking at the whole operation, not just that they're going to every game," Stephens said.

Godbee said he ordered the investigation after a city official complained about the bus being parked downtown during Lions games, The Detroit News reported.

"Ostensibly, it's an illegal establishment," Godbee said. "The same thing that would regulate that type of activity in a strip club would be applicable to that vehicle. We're going to police it very aggressively through our investigation.

"I'm appalled at this kind of conduct because we have families and children around. We need to make sure these events are fan-friendly for children and their families," he said.

The department is also investigating photos on Facebook depicting two police officers posing with the bus, investigators said.

The Free Press and the News said the operators of the Booty Lounge could not be reached for comment.
