CHANGSHA, China, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- An official at a Chinese theme park said an unlicensed attraction based on the popular "Angry Birds" video game is designed to help people purge stress.

The Window of the World park in Changsha said the "Angry Birds" inspired attraction, which allows people to slingshot plush birds at pig balloons in plastic castles, opened Sept. 1 as part of the September "stress-reducing festival," the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

"This (Angry Birds attraction) serves as a method for people to purge themselves and to gain happiness," a Window of the World official told Chinese gaming Web site Gamersky.com.

Finnish game developer Rovio said it did not give authorization or receive compensation for the game.

"We would welcome a partnership," Rovio China spokeswoman Daisy Yang told tech site Mobiledia. "But Rovio would need to give them permission to use the 'Angry Birds' game."
