The Window of the World park in Changsha said the "Angry Birds" inspired attraction, which allows people to slingshot plush birds at pig balloons in plastic castles, opened Sept. 1 as part of the September "stress-reducing festival," the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

"This (Angry Birds attraction) serves as a method for people to purge themselves and to gain happiness," a Window of the World official told Chinese gaming Web site Gamersky.com.

Finnish game developer Rovio said it did not give authorization or receive compensation for the game.

"We would welcome a partnership," Rovio China spokeswoman Daisy Yang told tech site Mobiledia. "But Rovio would need to give them permission to use the 'Angry Birds' game."

Burglar rescued from rooftop vent

CLEVELAND, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Authorities in Cleveland said they arrested a burglar who became trapped in a restaurant's rooftop air conditioning vent.

Police said officers responded to a call about a man on the roof of the Burger Haven restaurant at Broadway and Fleet avenues early Thursday morning and the investigators noticed the rooftop heating and cooling system had been damaged, WEWS-TV, Cleveland, reported Thursday.

Officers entered the restaurant and saw the burglar's feet dangling from the ceiling vent, police said.

A Cleveland Fire Department truck was called to the scene to help free the trapped man, whose name was not released.

The man, who was arrested on suspicion of burglary, is believed to have been behind a string of similar burglaries in the area, police said.

Skimpy cheerleader uniforms covered up

TAVARES, Fla., Sept. 16 (UPI) -- High schools in a Florida district are tempering the tradition of cheerleaders wearing uniforms to class on game day, some by banning the outfits altogether.

The Lake County school district sent out a memo instructing schools where the cheerleading uniforms are too skimpy to meet dress codes to have the girls wear shorts or long pants beneath their short skirts and T-shirts under their sleeveless tops, the Orlando Sentinel reported Friday.

"During the educational portion of the day, they have to meet the dress code just like every other student," said School Board Chairwoman Debbie Stivender, who pushed for the policy.

Two schools in the district, Leesburg High School and Lake Minneola High School, announced they are not allowing the uniforms in classrooms at all.

Michelle Thomas, a varsity cheerleader at Leesburg High School, said she was disappointed by the decision.

"It shows that we're a team just like all the other sports," she said of the uniforms.

Woman arrested after salad attack

OAK HILL, Fla., Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said they arrested a woman who admitted to dumping a cucumber salad over the head of her boyfriend's one-legged father.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the home of Michael Dyer at about 4 p.m. Tuesday by his son, Daron Dyer, who reported a domestic disturbance, the Orlando Sentinel reported Friday.

Deputies said Alicia Ducharme, 48, Daron Dyer's girlfriend, had argued with Michael Dyer, who accused her of stealing food and money from him, before she dumped the salad on his head.

Michael Dyer's left leg is amputated at the knee and he uses an electric scooter to get around.

Deputies said Ducharme told them she was "guilty" and instructed them to "arrest me," but she resisted when they attempted to handcuff her.

Ducharme said Dyer had punched her in the face before the salad dump, but deputies found no evidence of injuries.

Ducharme was charged with felony counts of abuse of an elderly or disabled person and resisting arrest without violence.
