JUNEAU, Alaska, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Officials at Alaska's Juneau International Airport said a landing was delayed when a pair of black labs were spotted on the runway.

Deputy Airport Manager Patty deLaBruere said Flight 64 from Anchorage was preparing to land about 2:30 p.m. Sunday but it had to abort the attempt and circle the airport when the dogs were spotted on the runway, KINY-AM, Juneau, reported Tuesday.

Chava Lee of the Gastineau Humane Society said one of the dogs was captured by an Animal Control Officer and a dog matching the description of the second canine was later found in the area.

Lee said the owner of the dog caught on the runway will be cited. She said the owner is out of town and the dog had been in the care of another person.
