ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- A South Carolina school district announced it is moving a bus stop after parents complained about its location directly behind a strip club.
The Horry County School District said the bus stop at 4th Street and 30th Avenue South in Atlantic Beach will be replaced by two different stops farther from the adult entertainment establishment, WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach, reported Friday.
Jim Wright, transportation director for the district, earlier said the stop was placed behind the strip club because it was the most central location for the children serviced by the stop. He announced the change Thursday.
"The stop was closer to where they live, and it didn't interfere with the route of the bus. So there was no reason not to change it," Wright said in his announcement.
The move came after several parents complained about their children having to wait for the school bus behind a strip club.
"I had to explain to my 4-year-old what topless was," mother-of-four Misty Umphries said.
