MIAMI, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A lawyer for a Florida charter school said officials are investigating allegations of raunchy parties being held at the facility during weekends.

Marlon Hill, lawyer for the Balare Language Academy in Miami, said principal and founder Rocka Malik is investigating after parents complained of beer bottles and the smell of smoke at the school and fliers were found advertising raunchy parties to be held in the building, The Miami Herald reported Friday.

"The school takes this type of allegation very seriously and with the highest priority," Hill said.

The school district sent a letter to the school, which serves kindergarten through middle school students, Thursday warning that the parties violate policies.

"All advertisements include the promotion of alcoholic beverages in addition to inappropriate images for school-age children," Deputy Superintendent Freddie Woodson wrote of the fliers.

He said staff members will visit the school during the weekend, when church groups sublet the building, "to assess whether any unapproved activities are indeed taking place without the knowledge and notice of the school."
