The fair said the Big Tex Choice Awards for best tasting and most creative concession foods will be given out Monday and finalists include the buffalo chicken in a flapjack, which involves a buffalo chicken strip being covered in flapjack batter and jalapeno bread crumbs before being deep fried and served with syrup, The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday. Advertisement The finalist foods also include deep-fried pineapple upside down cake, deep fried Texas salsa, fried autumn pie and fried bubblegum. The contest also includes the el bananarito, which consists of a deep fried banana in a tortilla with whipped cream, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract; Hans' kraut ball, which contains a deep-fried mixture of browned pork sausage, onion, garlic, a zing of sauerkraut, mustard, and tasty seasonings; and the walking taco, which consists of meat, lettuce, onion, fresh tomato, grated cheese, sour cream and salsa being served in a bag of Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos.
