Golf team suspended over nude picture

LINDSBORG, Kan., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- A Kansas college said its men's golf team has been suspended from three tournaments for a picture featuring members nude, covering their genitals with clubs.

Jon Daniels, Bethany College head golf coach and athletic director, said the team was suspended from its first three conference tournaments after the picture of the team with their pants around their ankles and hiding their genitals with golf clubs was posted on Facebook, KWCH-TV, Wichita, reported Wednesday.

School officials said the picture did not violate athletic regulations but the caption bore the words Bethany College, which officials said was an inappropriate use of the institution's name.

"I just want to make sure they understand life choices and consequences," Daniels said.

"Until someone sat them down and explained that they did something wrong, they didn't have any idea," Daniels told The Wichita Eagle. "But I think they understand now."

Team captain Jac Hiscock said the team is appealing the suspension.
