PETERSBURG, Ky., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- The ministry behind Kentucky's Creation Museum said it plans to create a replica of Noah's ark -- 500 feet long and 80 feet high -- by 2014.

The group, Answers in Genesis, said it is planning to have a team of Amish builders create the ark from wood in Petersburg to demonstrate how the biblical Noah would have constructed the boat, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Ken Ham, president, chief executive and founder of Answers in Genesis, said the ark will serve as the centerpiece of a biblical theme park and will show visitors "the geological aspects of the flood."

The group said it has thus far raised $3.7 million of the $24.5 million needed to complete the project.
