MENASHA, Wis., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Police in Wisconsin said they are hoping someone will come forward with information about a prosthetic leg discovered in a neighborhood in the early morning.

The Menasha Police Department said the leg was turned over to an officer by a woman who discovered it in the 1000 block of Ninth Street between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Aug. 4, the Appleton Post-Crescent reported Wednesday.

"The leg is a prosthetic leg with a black shoe on the bottom of the leg," the police report states.

Officer Aaron Zemlock said the leg has been in the police evidence room for nearly two weeks and no one has come forward to claim it.

"It's certainly a very odd situation," he said. "My understanding is they are pretty expensive.

"It does not appear as though we are doing any follow-up unless someone comes forward and reports (the leg) missing," Zemlock said.
