PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- An Oregon doughnut store said it submitted its 666-pound box of doughnuts to Guinness World Records for certification as the world's heaviest.

Kenneth "Cat Daddy" Pogson and Tres Shannon, owners of Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, weighed the massive box of doughnuts Sunday on the Hawthorne Bridge as part of the Brunch on the Bridge event, NBC's "Today" show reported.

The weigh-in was witnessed by a notary, a scale master and Mayor Sam Adams.

"I think we must have set another record when we handed out 666 pounds of doughnuts in just 45 minutes," Shannon said. "It was a good way to give back to the city of Portland, which has been pretty good to us over the years."

Shannon said the eatery is awaiting word from Guinness to find out if it made the record book.

"The current record is a little less than 333 pounds, so we just decided to double it to 666 pounds, which kind of goes along with our voodoo theme," Shannon said. "It's the mark of the 'yeast.'"
