GLOUCESTER, Mass., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts blogger apologized for saying a group of lobstermen was seeking to recapture lobsters released by a Buddhist group, calling it a "joke."

Joe Ciaramitaro, a Gloucester dock owner and blogger at goodmorninggloucester.org, said his Monday entry, titled "The Crew of the Degelyse Sets Out to Catch Liberated Buddhist Lobsters" and including video of the lobster boat crew talking about catching the 534 lobsters released by the Buddhists Aug. 3, was meant as a joke, The Boston Globe reported Wednesday.

Ciaramitaro said he was not serious when he told news media the Degelyse crew had been at the drop site attempting to catch the lobsters.

"They didn't fish anywhere close to that," he said of the boat's crew. "It would be physically impossible for them to move that amount of gear in that amount of time."

Ciaramitaro apologized to anyone who did not understand his entry was a joke.

"I was obviously wrong, and people did not understand with the outlandishness of it all that it was a joke," he said. "It's on me."
