Nearly $68k worth of booze stolen

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said someone stole a cargo container filled with $67,881 worth of alcoholic beverages from a Jacksonville warehouse complex.

Investigators said the booze, including 960 cases of Bacardi rum, vanished between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday at the 2550 Cabot Commerce Drive warehouse complex, where four other businesses reported burglaries, auto thefts and attempted break-ins at the same time as the alcohol caper, the (Jacksonville) Florida Times-Union reported Wednesday.

Police said the suspects cut through barbed wire and moved a security camera to prevent their images from being captured. The thieves apparently opened three shipping containers before finding the one loaded with alcohol and driving away with it.
