Snake slithers out of moving SUV's hood

MEMPHIS, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- A Memphis family said they were shocked when a snake slithered out from under the hood of their vehicle while they were driving on the highway.

Rachel Fisher said she was driving the sport-utility vehicle on Sam Cooper Boulevard with her husband, Tony, in the passenger seat and their young son in the back seat when the snake emerged from beneath the hood and started slithering on the windshield, WMC-TV, Memphis, reported Monday.

"It just came straight up out the left side," said Tony Fisher, who snapped pictures of the unidentified snake.

The couple said the snake apparently crawled under the hood while the SUV was parked overnight in a wooded area.

Rachel Fisher said she and her husband discussed potential courses of action to get rid of the snake before the reptile took the decision out of their hands.

"We were moving," she said. "There was nothing to grab on to so it tried to crawl down the side of my door and fell off."
