Kaori Ito, director of Gelato University, near Bologna, said some 12,000 people signed up this year to take courses including technical lectures, practical courses and instructions on traditional gelato-making techniques, Sky News reported Wednesday. Advertisement "The people who come here are people who want a career change," Ito said. "The average age is 35-40. They are ready to drop what they're doing and open a new chapter in their lives." The school is at the headquarters of Carpigiani, the world's largest manufacturer of ice cream-making machines.
