The woman was taken to the prison in Taif on defamation charges for allegedly circulating indecent pictures of the police officer she accused of harassment. The officer, who the woman said she dated for a time after her divorce, was convicted on a blackmailing charge and sentenced to six years in jail, 500 whiplashes and an $80,000 fine.

G.T. said she sent the pictures to police and the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice as evidence of the harassment against her.

"I used these pictures as evidence of his harassment. How can I be accused of defamation when it was him who sent these pictures to me?" she told Al-Watan.
